Donald Trump admits Melania loves someone more than him

At a news conference intended to highlight global diplomacy, Donald Trump instead gave reporters a view into something considerably more personal: his family life.

During a joint appearance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president abruptly changed his focus from foreign concerns to his wife Melania Trump.

From peace talks to family talk

Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House on August 18 came with plenty of buildup. It replaced Donald Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska and was enclosed by speculation — especially given how things exhausted the last time.

But round two at the White House went much smoother. Zelenskyy arrived wearing a French-style army jacket made from military canvas, complete with four patch pockets. The look was closer to a field coat than a suit, but still came across as more fitting — at least judging by Trump’s reaction.

According to Trump, his wife has been deeply unsettled by the images of young lives lost to violence. “She loves her son. She loves children. And she hates to see something like this happening. And that goes for other wars, too. I mean, she sees the heartbreak, the parents, the funerals that you see on television. Always funerals. We want to see something other than funerals,” he told reporters.

A mother first

Melania maintained a modest public profile throughout Trump’s second term, preferring to focus on her family rather than Washington’s social scene.

Her friends and family frequently point out that her top goal has always been her 19-year-old son, Barron, and ensuring that he leads as normal a life as possible while being in the public eye.

Melania Trump has made it her life’s mission to defend and support her son, and what parent wouldn’t?

Donald already recognized her impact. In his first term, he attributed her with pushing him to address teenage vaping, noting that her motivation stemmed from concern for their son’s well-being and the greater hazards to youngsters.

Forensic lip reader reveals

Those who follow the First Lady attentively know that she is more than simply a guiding force at home; she has also intervened at critical public times.

One of the more obvious examples occurred earlier this year at Pope Francis’ burial in Rome on April 26, 2025, which also happened to be Melania’s 55th birthday.

Despite the personal timing, Melania, a practicing Catholic, viewed attending the funeral as an honor. She dressed in a black ensemble with a traditional veil, while Donald drew attention for showing up in a midnight-blue suit and even being spotted chewing gum during the ceremony.

Adjusting public duty and private faith

According to those close to Melania, she practices her faith secretly and rarely speaks about it in public. Nonetheless, attending the Pope’s burial was extremely meaningful to her. While others may have wanted to spend their birthday in celebration, a friend stated that Melania “had no objection to spending her birthday morning at the funeral and planned to celebrate afterward.”

She became the first Catholic First Lady since Jackie Kennedy, and her presence at St. Peter’s Square alongside world leaders — including Prince William, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, and Emmanuel Macron—was a reminder of the quiet but significant role she plays on the international stage.

Melania Trump’s reaction to Queen Camilla has people seriously divided

Footage from last night’s state banquet of Melania Trump and Queen Camilla has gone viral for all the wrong reasons

A moment between the First Lady and Queen Camilla that took place during last night’s state banquet has seriously divided opinion.

For people who need a reminder, Donald Trump and the First Lady are in the UK for a two-day visit to spend time with King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

The American pair have also got to know Prince William and Kate Middleton, with Trump issuing high praise for the royals during his banquet speech.

Speaking to the 160 guests on 17 September, he said: “His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. Really amazing.

“We’ve gotten to know you and I think you’re going to have an unbelievable success in future.”

He added: “Melania and I are delighted to visit again with Prince William and to see Her Royal Highness, Princess Catherine, so radiant and so healthy, and so beautiful. It’s really a great honour, thank you.”

A moment from last night’s state banquet has gone viral (Sky News)

Trump was seated next to Princess Catherine for the banquet, with Melania, Camilla, and Prince William sitting opposite them.

And eagle-eyed social media users have picked up on one moment of footage from the event, that took place during the luxurious meal.

In the video, Camilla seems to be speaking to the First Lady, however, Melania seemingly snubs her by not responding and instead chatting to Prince William next to her.

Reacting to the moment, which has since been shared on TikTok, one user wrote: “Melania Ignoring her just like she does with Trump,” alongside laughing emojis.

A second said: “I don’t care who you are, sure some respect to other human beings, it doesn’t matter if you can’t stand them at least be civil-friendly and cheerful, there’s nobody perfect in this world just be kind to everybody.”

A third added: “Poor Camila, she’s talking to herself.”

And someone else chimed in with: “You imagine they wouldn’t have much to talk about.”

Nevertheless, others have rushed to defend Melania, pointing out that Camilla could have also been talking to William, who was out of camera view.

“They are both obviously talking to the person next to Camilla,” one person commented.

A second noted: “Prince William is on the other side of her.”

Somebody else penned: “Melania was not ignoring Queen Camilla; she was talking to Prince William.”

Another agreed: “She is talking to someone else, in case you didn’t notice.”

And a final user pointed out: “People so mean… it’s not ignoring, Melania and Camilla are just talking to another person who is sitting next to Melania.”
